Heath Family Estate wines are sourced from our estate vineyards at Grape Creek Vineyards and Invention Vineyards, both of which fall within the Texas Hill Country AVA. The key phrase for this 2023 growing season for our estate vineyards was “Heat.” While we experienced more rainfall this Spring than in 2022, the extreme heat and almost no rain since early June, and throughout the Summer, stressed the vines. Additionally, we received a brief, but harsh, hail storm in mid-June that resulted in a need for further cluster removal, creating yield reductions. However, there was an upside. While harvest occured a little earlier than normal, the fruit quality was excellent with deep color extraction, big fruit flavors and solid tannins.
