Jenblossom Cellars 2024 Harvest Update
Another wild year during harvest in Napa Valley! After a solid 50 inches of rain in the winter, vineyard soils were replenished beyond solid expectations, and spring flowering was perfect. Even more exciting was the health of the vine canopies throughout the valley, and solid leaf growth contributed to consistent berry ripening and great-looking clusters. Ultimately the crop yield, especially for Cabernet, was essentially “average” based on past seasons, but ideally, the quality was superior. The colors on reds were striking, just inky, and the tannin structure and flavor have been solid coming from lots pressed in the front half of the season. Late-season heat waves brought red grapes in sooner than expected, but wineries with sufficient tank space made it just fine. Finally, the late-season warmth push only helped with full flavor development, and there was no panic from winemakers. Another superior quality harvest in Napa Valley!
